KANAYO O. KANAYO
Born Anayo Modestus Onyekwere today, March 1, 1962, in Mbaise, Imo State.
Kanayo O. Kanayo received his primary and secondary education at Saint Joseph Primary School and Ahiara Boys Secondary School, Imo state, respectively. Then he went to the University of Lagos, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a Master’s degree in Political sciences.
After he had graduated from the University of Lagos, he played as a guest star in the popular Nigeria TV-show “New Masquerade.” He starred alongside such actors as Ovuleria, Prince Jegede Shokoya, Chief Zebrudaya, and Giringory.
He made his debut appearance in “Living in Bondage” that was produced in 1992, where he played Chief Omego.
Kanayo O. Kanayo was nicknamed “father of ritualists”, the now 57-year-old actor won “Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria” and “Best Actor in a Leading Role” at the African Movie Academy awards for his outstanding acting in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
He is currently a United Nations ambassador and has also been given the title of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic.
PETE EDOCHIE
He was born on 7th March 1947 in Enugu coal city of Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is currently 72 years old.
He is popularly known for playing wicked roles in movies.
Pete Edochie completed his primary school education in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. After which he completed his secondary school education in Zaria, Kaduna State in the northern part of Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate.
He moved over to England and studied a course in Journalism and Television in the School of Journalism and Television in England, United Kingdom.
In 1980, Pete Edochie became famous after starring in an NTA TV series “Things Fall Apart” in which he played the lead role of Okonkwo. He later won an International Awards due to his role as Okonkwo in the TV series “Things Fall Apart” and he was also interviewed by BBC reporters on the success of the movie.
Pete Edochie has acted in more than 300 Nollywood movies. He always features in political films and occultic films and sometimes plays the role of a title chief, traditional ruler and traditional prime minister in several Nollywood movies.
Pete Edochie in the cause of his acting career has won several awards both home and abroad. Some of his awards include Best Actor in Africa, Nollywood legendary Actor, Most Promising Actor in Nigeria, Most Gifted Actor and Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria. He is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian movie Industry popularly known as Nollywood and contributed immensely to the growth of Nollywood in Nigeria and rest of the world.
In 2011, Pete Edochie was honored as Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) which happens to be the highest award and honor given to a celebrity who has contributed immensely to the economic growth and development of the country through entertainment.
I personally feel Kanayo O. Kanayo is the king of rituals in Nollywood. I mean he is nicknamed "father of rituals" for a reason right?
